Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman wish Mamata Banerjee over West Bengal Assembly poll results

New Delhi: Defence Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajnath Singh on Sunday congratulated West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee after her party registered a thumping victory in the Assembly polls to return to power for a third straight term.

"Congratulations to the Chief Minister of West Bengal,@MamataOfficial Didi on her party’s victory in West Bengal assembly elections. My best wishes to her for her next tenure," Singh tweeted.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also joined Singh in congratulating Banerjee and tweeted: " Congratulations @MamataOfficial didi on @AITCofficial being elected again in the Assembly election. Good wishes for your next tenure."

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress registered a strong victory in the Assembly polls by defeating key oppositions Bharatiya Janata Party and Sanjukta Morcha.

As per latest trend, the TMC is ahead in 209 seats while the BJP is ahead in 81.

Sanjukta Morcha is leading in 1 seat.

 After a high-voltage battle, Banerjee also maintained her winning streak and defeated BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram seat.
