Rajasthan Governor rejects Ashok Gehlot's request for assembly session again

Jaipur/IBNS: Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday turned down Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's request for an assembly session for the third time, media reports said.

The Governor has reportedly sent back the request saying 21-day notice is required to call an assembly session.

The Congress in Rajasthan plunged into a political crisis, which is deepening with every passing day, more than a couple of weeks ago when rebel its MLA Sachin Pilot went to Delhi revolting against Gehlot, after being allegedly sidelined in his own party.

After being sacked as the Deputy CM and party's state unit chief for not attending the meetings of MLAs called by Gehlot, Pilot and his 18 loyalists were served disqualification notices by Speaker CP Joshi.

Earlier the Rajasthan High Court, where the rebel MLAs had moved challenging the disqualification notices, had asked the Speaker to status quo, meaning the 19 Congress lawmakers can't be disqualifed for now.

Joshi has already withdrawn his case against the his own petition filed against the high court order which had stayed the disqualification of 19 rebel Congress MLAs.

Amid the Congress infighting, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday summoned Gehlot's brother Agrasain Gehlot and asked him to join investigation in an alleged money laundering case linked to the fertiliser export scam that took place between 2007 and 2009.
