Rahul accuses Mamata of emulating Modi in state

Kolkata, Apr 2 (IBNS) Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who visited West Bengal on Saturday to campaign for his party in the upcoming state polls, accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of emulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tactics and slammed both for being power hungry people.

Gandhi said, "Mamata ji is doing in Bengal what Narendra Modi ji is doing in the country. They both want to rule single-handedly."

Gandhi also slammed the chief minister for her inability to keep promises.

He said, "The Congress and TMC were in a coalition in the last state election, but we moved out because Mamata Banerjee ji failed to keep her promises."

He also said that the Congress deserves credit for TMC's win in the 2011 elections.

"We were in a coalition. The Congress MP's worked extremely hard and had a significant role to play in the win," he said.

Gandhi also said that he is sure of their win in Bengal.

He said, "The moment Congress and Left came together, the people of Bengal know that Mamata ji's government will no longer be in power."

He said that when they will form the government in Bengal, the main focus will be on industrilisation and creating job vacancies.

Gandhi also visited Kolkata's Girish Park area, where an under-construction flyover collapsed on Thursday, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others.

He said, "I am deeply hurt, I have come here to meet the injured people. Let's not politicise it."
