Ragging: Student attacked by seniors in West Bengal college
According to reports, the first year student, who is a resident of Bihar, was being allegedly ragged regularly by few senior students since last 2-3 months and submitted complaint to the anti-ragging cell of the institute.
After investigation, the authority identified six students of second and third year, who committed the ragging, and warned them.
To take revenge, those six accused senior students allegedly beaten the first-year student badly on Friday evening. After cutting his hairs, they allegedly kidnapped the victim and started journey towards Kolkata via a car.
The first-year student was allegedly attacked by razor blade and hit by wine-bottles inside the car.
However, he was thrown out from the car near Kolaghat in East Midnapore district on Friday night.
After rescuing, the attacked student was rushed to Haldia Sub-Divisional Hospital and is being treated there in critical condition.
After starting investigation, police have arrested five senior students so far and charged them under IPC sections 364 (Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy).
However, they were produced in a local court on Saturday and sent to police custody for 3 days.
