Jaipur, Apr 6 (IBNS) Police have arrested six people for allegedly robbing and molesting a Spanish woman and beating up her partner, who had been on a visit to Pushkar in Rajasthan, reports said.

The woman had alleged that she and her companion were attacked on Monday when they were on their way to a temple in   Pushkar on a rented bike. The group of young men molested her, tearing her clothes off and snatched her bag. When her companion tried to stop the attackers, they hit him on his head with a stone.

The couple called the owner of the hotel they were staying in for help. He took them to a hospital. The man is now stable, the doctors said.

The police stepped up action following orders from the  ministry of external affairs, which asked for a report on the matter. The ministry said foreign minister Sushma Swaraj spoke to Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who said strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Those arrested are said to be in their twenties.

The police have also recovered the bag, mobile phone camera, credit card and other belongings of the woman.
