Pune, Aug 6 (IBNS): A mob of at least 50 persons allegedly attacked seven gau rakshaks near Shrigonda police station in Ahmednagar district of Pune on Saturday evening, media reports said.

The Ahmednagar police reportedly said that seven gau rakshaks were injured in the attack.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Shrigonda police station.

The incident happened after the gau rakshaks along with police, had stopped a temp allegedly transporting cows to a slaughterhouse illegally.

The owner of the tempo, Wahid Shaikh and driver Raju Fatrubhai Shaikh, have been arrested under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, said reports.
