Pranab Mukherjee, COVID-19 positive, underwent brain surgery: Digvijaya Singh tweets

New Delhi/IBNS: Ex-President Pranab Mukherjee, who informed on Monday that he tested positive for coronavirus, underwent brain surgery and is currently on ventilator support, his former colleague from Congress party Digvijaya Singh tweeted.

In a tweet, Singh wrote: "Ex-Prez Mukherjee undergoes brain surgery for clot removal, on ventilator https://shrts.in/Ms71-via @inshorts. Pray to Almighty for speedy recovery of Pranab Da, one of the most articulate Politician with a phenomenal memory."

According to media reports, his brain surgery was successful.

On Monday, Mukherjee himself took to Twitter to inform that he had tested positive for the deadly virus.

Mukherjee in a tweet asked all people who came in contact with him to self-isolate and get tested for Covid-19.

He tweeted, "On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19."

Mukherjee, 84, remained the President of the country of 1.3 billion people between 2012-2017.

Prior to becoming the President, he remained a Congress leader for decades and held several portfolios as a Union Minister.
