Police officer injured in Jammu and Kashmir, terrorist attack suspected

Srinagar, Aug 28 (IBNS): Suspected militants shot at and injured a Jammu and Kashmir police officer in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday, according to police reports.

According to an official, Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K Police, Abdul Rashid Peer, was seriously injured after gunmen fired at him, in Mehendi Kadal area of Anantnag town.

He was shifted to the District Hospital from where from he was referred to Srinagar for special treatment, the official added.

Soon after the incident, forces cordoned off the area and started searching it to nab the attackers.
