The Pimpri Chinchwad Police in Pune have arrested seven staff members of a school, including the principal, over the alleged sexual harassment of a minor.

According to reports, the arrested people were a PT teacher, a trustee, and four others.

The arrests were reportedly made on Friday.

The main accused in the case is reportedly the PT teacher who allegedly sexually harassed the child for two years.

Authorities revealed that the PT teacher had previously been arrested for similar charges under the POCSO Act and had served time in jail, reported India TV.

"This is not the first time the PT teacher has faced such accusations. He was previously booked and arrested on charges of molestation and under the POCSO Act and had served time in jail," the police told the news channel.

The incident came to light at a time when the nation is witnessing massive protests over the rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
