PM Modi greets Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati ahead of his 81st birthday

New Delhi, Mar 23 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati ahead of his 81st birthday.

The PM wrote on Twitter: "My warmest greetings to Pujya Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati ji of Kanchi Mutt on the special occasion of his Sahasra Chandra Darshan."

Saharsha Chandra Darsha is a Hindhu celebration prevalent in India and Nepal, where it is celebrated three full moons before someone's 81st birthday.

Praying for the religious leader's good health, PM Modi wrote: "Pujya Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati ji has devoted his life to service & spirituality. I pray for his good health & long life."
