New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the demise of BJP MP from Ajmer, Sanwar Lal Jat.

"Anguished by the demise of MP & former Union Minister, Shri Sanwar Lal Jat. This is a big loss for the BJP & the nation. My condolences," the Prime Minister's tweet read.

In an ensuing tweet, the Prime Minister spoke about the minister's work ethics and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

"Shri Sanwar Lal Jat worked extensively for wellbeing of villages & farmers. My thoughts are with his family & supporters in this sad hour," he said.

Last month, Jat fell unconscious while attending a party meeting chaired by BJP president Amit Shah in Jaipur.

He was initially rushed to the nearby Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and later moved to the AIIMS, Delhi.

Jat had served as the Minister of State for Water Resources under the incumbent government.
