Only Bangladeshis with expired visas will be allowed to return from India

Continuing the entry restrictions from Covid-battered India, Bangladesh has decided to allow only Bangladeshis with expired Indian visas to return home with special permission from the Bangladesh High Commission in India.

The announcement was made in a gazette notification on Wednesday that extended the ongoing restrictions on public movement and gathering for another week in a bid to stem the spread of Covid-19, Dhaka Tribune reported.

The restrictions will now remain in force till May 5.

“Other than the transportation of goods, no one is allowed to enter Bangladesh from India through any land, sea or airports.

"However, only Bangladeshis whose visas have expired can enter Bangladesh with special consideration subject to obtaining permission clearance from the Bangladesh High Commission in India,” the gazette notification said.
