One killed in oxygen cylinder blast in Kanpur

Kanpur/UNI: When the entire country is reeling under acute oxygen shortage in view of the strong second Coronavirus wave, an explosion at an oxygen factory in Dadanagar industrial area was reported here on Friday morning, claiming life of a worker.

Police here said that the mishap occurred at Panki Oxygen plant during refilling of the cylinders.

In the blast, one labourer was killed while three others were injured. The plant refills oxygen cylinders for medical use.

The deceased labour, identified as Murad Ali, was refilling an oxygen cylinder when the blast took place. He died on the spot. Three other injured were admitted to the hospital.

Police and district authorities were investigating the incident.
