Sangrur/UNI: A lower court in Sangrur has issued notice to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in a defamation case filed by a Hindu Suraksha Parishad (HSP) activist over his alleged defamatory comments about Bajrang Dal in recently concluded Karnataka assembly elections.

The notice, issued by the civil judge (senior division) Ramandip Kaur is returnable by July 10.

The notice was issued on Friday.

Hitesh Bhardwaj, the president of HSP, has also said in his petition that the Congress manifesto for the Karnataka assembly elections also promised to ban the Bajrang Dal after coming into power and compared it to several other anti-national organisations.
