Nitish and Lalu holds separate meetings of legislators to discuss Tejashwi issue

Patna, Jul 26 (IBNS) : In what could shape the future of the relationship between them, Bihar's ruling partners Janata Dal (U) and Rashtriya Janata Dal will hold separate meetings of their legislators on Wednesday to discuss whether Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav should resign because of corruption charges, NDTV reported.

While Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JDU insists that the Lalu Yadav scion step down to spare the ruling coalition a stigma, the RJD asserts that nothing such happened that warrants the young minister's resignation.

Following a series of raids in the residences of Lalu Prasad Yadav and others, the CBI has registered cases of corruption against the RJD chief and his son, Tejashwi.

The RJD has, however, said that by "framing" Tejashwi Yadav, the second man in the cabinet, the BJP-led Centre is out for a "political vendetta."

Nitish Kumar and his party, the Janata Dal United, have so far  made no utterances of support.

The Congress' top bosses, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, have talked to both Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav in a bid to strike a rapprochement and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi has reportedly been assigned to handle the problem.
