Nadda hails 51% increase in outlay for Himachal in Rail Budget

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IBNS) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda on Thursday thanked the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for increasing the outlay of railway projects for Himachal Pradesh by more than 51% over last year.

“This will give a big boost to the interior rail network in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This will benefit not only the common people of Himachal Pradesh but will also give big push to the tourism industry in the state by providing greater connectivity," Nadda said.

Nadda said, “The allocation for Himachal Pradesh has been increased from Rs 255 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 310 crore in 2016-17. Two new projects-Gauge conversion of Pathankot-Joginder Nagar line and New Line from Joginder Nagar to Mandi has been approved.”

“The NDA government has provided on an average Rs 206.3 crore of annual outlay for railway projects in Himachal Pradesh from 2014-15 to 2016-2017 whereas during UPA regime (2009-10 to 2013-14), the UPA provided an annual outlay of 108.4 crore,” added Nadda.

The Health Minister termed the Railway Budget 2016-17 as visionary, forward looking and innovative.

He said, “This budget is a major step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. "

The state of Himachal Pradesh has benefitted a great deal in this budget as much awaited resources have been provided, he added.
