Modi thanks voters for landslide support

Vadodara, May 16 (IBNS) In his first public address after registering a whooping victory in the Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi thanked the voters in his constituency Vadodara for supporting him.

As the crowd cheered 'Modi! Modi!', the Gujarat Chief Minister, under whose leadership, the BJP-led NDA delivered a strong  result at the polls, said: "I humbly thank people of Vadodara."

Thanking the people of his constituency, Modi said: "After filing nomination, I have been able to give Vadodara barely 50 minutes and you have given me 5.7 lakh votes. Thank you for your support."

He said people of Vadodara have created a new record by giving him 5.7 lakh votes.

"In the history of elections such a margin was not seen in a general elections ever," he said.

He said: "This is the first time after independence that a party other than the Congress has got a clear majority." 

Following the landslide victory on Friday, the BJP-led NDA is all set to form the next government in New Delhi with a clear majority under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
