Middle path as diplomatic policy lost significance: Mir Junaid on India-China border dispute

New Delhi/IBNS: Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party president Mid Junaid on Saturday said the middle path as a diplomatic policy has lost its significance, referring to China's unprovoked aggression at the border with India.

Junaid tweeted, "The middle path as a diplomatic policy has lost its significance in the current times. China never respected India's initiatives for peaceful coexistence. It is right on part of @rajnathsingh to warn China of crossing LAC. We wont tolerate any bullying anymore." (sic)

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Chinese counterpart Maj Gen Wei Fenghe on Saturday called for the peaceful settlement of the ongoing border dispute in Ladakh.

Both ministers are currently in Moscow to attend the meeting of defence ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) nations. The bilateral meeting was requested by Wei.

Singh stressed on the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the border area as well as keeping communications channels between diplomats and the military open.

The minister hoped that the countries would manage to ensure the full separation of forces, avoid the steps that may de-escalate the situation as well as prevent the differences turning into conflicts.

In a fresh attempt to change the status-quo at the LAC, the Chinese troops have carried out provocative military movements at Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh to only get thwarted by India, the country's Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The incident had occurred on the 'night of 29/30 August 2020'.
