Mamata Banerjee participates in International Women's Day rally in Kolkata

Kolkata,Mar 8 (IBNS): With a rally to mark International Women's Day, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee commenced her election campaign for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

The rally started from Shyambazar and concluded at Kolkata's downtown Esplanade area.

Top leaders of the party and thousands of its supporters joined the march here.

During the rally, TMC supporters promoted the works and projects of the Mamata government through placards and banners.

Meanwhile, traffic movement in central and northern parts of city was disrupted due to the rally.

Banerjee will be officially starting her election campaign from Wednesday by holding a mass meeting in Malda district.

The assembly polls in the state will be commencing from Apr 4 and the ruling party has already declared the list of all its candidates.

Meanwhile, TMC has launched its theme song for upcoming assembly election.

Singer Anupam Roy wrote the lyrics and composed it. Top Bengali singers including, Srikanta Acharya, Lopamudra Mitra, Rupankar and Somlata Acharya Chowdhury, sang the two-minute long theme song.

"The party has also introduced a common logo for using as profile picture in social networking site- Facebook. Individual users can customize it by adding own name, inside the logo," an IT expert of the party told IBNS.
