Major fire breaks out at Dunlop warehouse near Kolkata
Kolkata, Feb 13 (IBNS): A major fire broke out on Saturday in a three-storey warehouse of plastic chairs at Dunlop area in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, officials said.
According to reports, the fire was first seen around 11:30 am. After getting information, as many as 20 fire tender engines and police from Baranagar Police Station rushed to the spot. Fire fighters have started operation to bring the blaze under control.
The warehouse is located at a very congested area and near B. T. Road. Few residential buildings, apartments, a college and a petrol pump are situated very close to the warehouse-building.
Police have evacuated all residential buildings nearby.
The Director General (DG) of West Bengal Fire Service, Sanjay Mukherjee told IBNS, "After getting news of the fire, we have sent over 20 fire tender engines and maximum engines have reached the spot. Four divisional fire officers and the director of West Bengal Fire Service are also on the spot. Fire fighting operation is currently underway. We believe, the fire will be brought under control by 1:30."
However, no casualty has been reported so far.
