Mumbai/IBNS: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has received threat calls in relation to the Kangana Ranaut controversy, the media reports said.

Last week, Deshmukh had said those who think Maharashtra or Mumbai unafe for them, possess no right to stay in the state.

He had also expressed dismay over the Centre's decision to provide Y Plus security to the actor.

According to media reports, the alleged threat calls, about five of them, came on Tuesday from a BJP ruled state Himachal Pradesh and warned Deshmukh against getting involved in a controversy related to the actor.

Another anonymous threat call, warning Deshmukh and NCP chief Sharad Pawar was claimed to have been received in Deshmukh's Nagpur office.

Amid the ongoing controversy, the Maharashtra Home Minister said Mumbai Police will investigate allegations by actor Adhyayan Suman in an interview that Kangana Ranaut took drugs, an NDTV report said.

Kangana Ranaut is a native of Himachal Pradesh.

Deshmukh said the Maharashtra government will conduct the investigation based on the allegations of Adhyayan Suman, the son of actor Shekhar Suman, that Kangana Ranaut used to take drugs.

Meanwhile, in a series of tweets Adhyayan Suman hit out for dragging him into the controversy.

“My name has sprung up relating to an interview which I had given in 2016 !!!! People stop speculating and dragging me in this toxicity ! I have not filed any case against anybody ! I don’t intend to visit that dark phase of my life ! Please please I have moved on ! Let me be!” he wrote.

The follow-up tweets read, “Media channels frantically call me to talk to me please don’t call me if it is in regards to this matter I said what I had to in 2016 I have nothing else to say.. I have had a huge struggle in regards to my work a dan finally I have seen a ray of hope. If u can’t support me, please do not drag my name in this!! I was ridiculed back in 2016 for speaking out by these media channels and now Iam sorry I have nothing to say ! Regards.”

However, Kangana Ranaut has said she is ready to get tested for drugs and have call records checked and if she was found to ever have connection with any drug peddler, she will leave Mumbai.
