Left Front is ready to discuss alliance with Congress for Bengal polls: Biman Bose
Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS): A day prior to the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)'s state committee's two-day-long meeting, the Left Front on Thursday held a meeting in Kolkata to discuss alliance issue with Congress for West Bengal assembly election, which will be held in March-April 2016.
After the meeting was over, LF chairman Biman Bose told the media that they had unanimously agreed to discuss alliance with Congress.
"Today we held a meeting, where 11 parties under the Left Front unanimously stated that we should go for an alliance discussion if Congress party wants it," Bose said.
However, Congress leader Adbul Mannan welcomed LF's decision.
Meanwhile, addressing a public meeting here at Barrackpore in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, CPI-M politburo member and former WB chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said, "We have to defeat Trinamool Congress in this election, otherwise this government will ruin the state. Few people are advising us to compete jointly to defeat TMC in this election. Though, these parties might have ideological differences and dissidence. But our aims are common- to defeat Trinamool."
However, the state committee of CPI-M will be holding a tow-day-long meeting from Friday, where the party will discuss on alliance with Congress and forward its decision to party's central committee.
