A langar (community kitchen) has been arranged for the pilgrims undertaking the sacred Amarnath Yatra at Battal Ballian, Industries Estate, in the Udhampur district. The National Human Rights and Social Justice Council of India, in collaboration with the local Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh communities, has taken up the initiative to provide free food and a resting place for the pilgrims throughout the duration of the Yatra.

This noble endeavor aims to foster religious harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, promoting inclusivity and mutual respect among the diverse communities in the region.

Shamim Akhtar, a representative of the National Human Rights Council, emphasized the primary objective of the langar, which is to offer sustenance and a place of respite for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, reported ANI.

He further highlighted the unwavering support extended by the Muslim community to the pilgrims, reinforcing the message of unity and solidarity across faiths. This united effort signifies the spirit of compassion and brotherhood, which lies at the heart of the initiative.

Rajan Singh Jamwal, the president of National Human Rights (J&K), lauded the langar as a testament to the rich cultural diversity of India. The community kitchen will remain operational throughout the entirety of the Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1 and will conclude on August 31.

Jamwal expressed his admiration for the initiative, citing it as a shining example of the nation's best attributes, including compassion, brotherhood, and inclusivity.
