Kolkata: Kolkata Police on Friday arrested a drunk person while he was attempting to enter the high-security cordon near the lane of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence at Kalighat.

Police seized a firearm, a knife along with contraband substances from his possession.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal told newsmen that the arrested person was also carrying several fake identity cards.

The person was identified as Sheikh Noor Alam, who was travelling in a car with a police sticker pasted on it, Goyal said.

Police, STF and Special Branch are questioning him at the local police station.

It may be mentioned that the incident happened on the day when the Trinamool Congress is holding ‘Martyrs’ Day' rally at Esplanade in downtown Kolkata.
