Kolkata: 80 shanties gutted, one local injured

Kolkata, Dec 14 (IBNS): At least 80 shanties were completely gutted in a fire that swept through a slum at Tangra area in Kolkata on Monday.

According to reports, the fire broke out in a slum area at Tangra's Meher Ali Lane area.

As many as 20 fire tender engines rushed to the spot.

The fire was brought under control after nearly 3 hours.

No casualty was reported in the incident except one local resident Md. Mostafa who was injured during firefighting.

He has been admitted to Nil Ratan Sarkar (NRS) Medical College and Hospital.

However, the fire department has started investigation into the incident to know the exact reason of the fire.
