A group of Khalistani members tried to disrupt the 79th Independence Day celebration at the Indian Consulate in the Australian city of Melbourne on Friday.

According to The Australia Today X page, the Khalistani 'goons' created disruptions outside the Consulate building.

Few people could be seen in the viral video standing outside the consulate holding the Khalistani flag.

"Khalistani 'goons' reportedly created a ruckus, disrupting the premises and raising tensions," the X post said.

"Indians had gathered to peacefully celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day, but the celebrations were interrupted," the post said.

The Indian consulate members were seen singing patriotic songs in reply to the Khalistani supporters.
The video of the incident went viral on the social media.

As per a video posted on the official X handle of the consulate, the flag hositing ceremony was held.

"Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar hoisted the flag and celebration was joined by Hon. Brad Batin, MP, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, Mayor of Marybyrong, and members of vibrant Indian diaspora. The morning was filled with patriotic fervour, soulful renditions of patriotic songs, and a shared commitment to strengthening the India–Australia bond," the Consulate wrote on X.
