Srinagar/IBNS: Jammu Kashmir Workers Party chief Mir Junaid on Thursday organised the sit-in protest against Pakistan in memory of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack here.

Junaid said, "The sit in protest today organised was against an evil force called Pakistan. We had assembled to sensitize the commoners regarding the real face of Pakistan. It is a country that has legitimised terrorism within its boundaries and is a threat to humanity. The horrors of the events of 26/11 are still fresh in our memory and recounting those moments adds to the determination of countering and fighting terrorism."

"We have seen Pakistan not only legitimising terrorism but also defaming Islam the religion of peace. Pakistan’s policy of terrorism against India is a well known fact around the globe but Pakistan has been able to run away with it in Kashmir using religion and Kashmir issue as excuses."

He added, "We are on a mission of informing the common people about the nefarious designs of Pakistan and how it has used Kashmir as a battle field to fulfil those designs. We are united with our country India in the fight against terrorism and are determined to uproot the terror sympathy within our society.

"The communal and divisive policy of Pakistan shall find no buyers anymore as Kashmir has had enough of bloodshed and violence on its land for no reason. We are doing this sit in, In the memory of those innocents who lost their lives to the barbarians from Pakistan. We are remembering the brave hearts who sacrificed their lives for protecting the people of India.

"We want to make it clear that we will not let the propagandists of Pakistan keep the paradise in isolation and distress. We are here to uplift the Kashmiri society and make it enter the contemporary standards of living and satisfaction which a citizen deserves.

"We raised hoardings across Srinagar for the commoners to see and understand the evil nature of Pakistan. The hoardings are a must for masses to see and relate with the events that happened. They act as the reminders to people about the crimes that Pakistan has been guilty to and how Pakistani proxies should not be allowed to preach anything in favour of the enemy of humanity."

The 2008 Mumbai attacks were twelve coordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai by members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker who was captured alive, later confessed upon interrogation that the attacks were conducted with the support of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Kasab was hanged on Nov 21, 2012 at Yerwada Jail in Pune.

The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday, Nov 26, 2008 and lasted until Saturday, Nov 29, 2008.
