Kashmir militant killed in gunbattle with the Army

Srinagar, Jan 20 (IBNS) One militant has been killed as an operation launched by the Indian Army is underway in Naina Batpora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.
Senior Police official told IBNS that fierce gunfight has been going on between militants and Indian Army in the area since Tuesday night.

After receiving information about the presence of militants in Naina Batpora, the 53 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF cordoned off the village.

The militants reportedly fired upon the forces engaging them in a gunfight. Firing resumed at around 6:30 on Wednesday  morning.

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants are believed to have been  trapped inside the village.

According to local news wire in Srinagar, Scores of worshippers are trapped inside a local mosque. They were listening to religious sermons  when
the gunfight  erupted. Later, all the  worshippers were rescued by the Kashmir Police.
