Kashmir: Mehbooba remembers 1931 Martyrs

Srinagar, July 13 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday joined the people of the state in remembering the Martyrs of 1931.

The Chief Minister reached Mazar- e-Shohada at Hazrat Naqshband Sahib (RA) at Khawaja Bazar and paid floral wreaths on the mausoleum of the martyrs of 1931, who laid down their lives against autocracy and suppression.

A contingent of J&K Police posted the bugle and presented the ceremonial guard of honour to the martyrs.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Bahau’din Naqshband (R.A.) and paid her obeisance.

She also prayed for peace, prosperity and development in the state.

Later, interacting with media persons on the sidelines of the ceremony, Mufti said the best way to remember the sacrifices of these martyrs is that the people of the state work together in strengthening the democratic, secular and tolerant system.

The Chief Minister hoped the clouds of uncertainty and violence would soon give way to reconciliation, peace and mutual trust.

She said it was satisfying that the people of the state, cutting across the ideological divide, were unequivocal in condemning the dastardly act of violence against Amarnath Yatris.
