Srinagar/UNI: Security forces achieved a major break-through when they busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in the border town of Karnah in the frontier district of Kupwara, a police spokesman said on Monday.
He said on a specific information Army and police conducted a joint search operation in Dhani area of Taad area in Karnah.
After a long search security forces unearthed a militant hideout, he said, adding a large cache of arms and ammunition, including five AK 47 rifles with six magazines and seven pistols and nine magazines were recovered.
A case FIR No 19/2021 u/s 7/25 IA Act has been registered in Police Station Karnah and investigation has been taken up.
A spokesperson said some suspected persons have been taken into custody for questioning.
Meanwhile, timely recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition has thwarted any possible untoward incident in otherwise peaceful region and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to try derailing peace and harmony.
