Jyotiraditya Scindia says 'Tiger Zinda Hain' after 'win' in MP
Bhopal/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, whose supporters gained big in the Madhya Pradesh cabinet expansion on Thursday, used the very popular film dialogue "Tiger abhi zinda hai" to indicate his return to the forefront of state politics.
The statement comes after months of silence from Scindia, who is a member of the Rajya Sabha, in the field of active politics.
"It is our duty to fight against any injustice. Even if it means calling for a war, then Jyotiraditya Scindia will be on the frontlines. For the last two months, people have been trying to tarnish my image and character. I want to tell them - tiger abhi zinda hai (tiger is still alive)," he told reporters using the film's famous dialogue.
Scindia said this while responding to questions on whether MLAs who joined BJP with him would find it difficult to win by-polls due in September to fill 24 vacancies in the Madhya Pradesh assembly.
Twenty-two seats fell vacant after Congress MLAs loyal to Scindia had quit, pulling down the Kamal Nath government.
Following this, the BJP came to power. Two more MLAs died later.
After Thursday's oath-taking ceremony, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has 34 ministers.
Of these, 59 per cent won the 2018 state elections on a BJP ticket.
The remaining 41 per cent or 14 ministers, are former Congress supporters, of whom three took oath in April.
The BJP government has 11 of Scindia's supporters.
