J&K govt formation: Mehbooba Mufti reaches Delhi to met BJP top brass
Srinagar, Mar 21 (IBNS): A day after Bhartiya Janata Party senior leader and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that union government was "committed to agenda of governance in Kashmir," Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti flew to New Delhi, where according to party sources she will meet top BJP brass to end the dead lock over government formation in the north Indian state.
If party sources are to be believed, Mehbooba will hold one-to-one meeting with top BJP brass in New Delhi on Monday night. Sources added that former Finance Minister and PDP leader Dr Haseeb Drabu also left for New Delhi on Monday afternoon.
“He will accompany Mehbooba Ji and is likely to be part of every meeting with BJP leaders,” a senior party leader said.
Another leader said that shortly after the Ram Madhav’s statement both Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and Haseeb Drabu had returned to summer capital, however, Drabu has flown back to New Delhi to assist Mehbooba Mufti.
“Mehbooba Ji is likely to meet PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday,” sources said. “Arun Jaitley’s Sunday statement has rejuvenated the process.”
The scheduled meeting last week between Mehbooba and PM Modi was deferred at the last moment.
J&K is under governor rule since Jan 7 when former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayed breathed his last in AIIMS New Delhi.
Her daughter, Mehbooba Mufti, had refused to take oath of office as CM seeking J&K specific CBMs from BJP led Union Government.
