J&K avalanche: Rescued jawan dies

Srinagar, Mar 25 (IBNS) The Army jawan, who was rescued from an avalanche in Turtuk Sector that hit an army patrol , died on Friday.

According to Udhampur based spokesman SD Gowsami, the Army jawan succumbed to his injuries.

“Lance Havildar Bhawan Tamang, who was immediately retrieved and evacuated to the nearest medical facility, could not be revived by the medical team,” said the spokesman.

Lance Havildar Bhawan Tamang was resident of Lopshu village in Darjeeling Tehsil of West Bengal state.

Meanwhile, massive efforts are currently on to rescue the other jawan in spite of inclement weather in the area.

Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command has expressed his deep condolences to the family of Lance Havildar Bhawan Tamang.
