JIT denies Pak terror attack on Pathankot, calls it vicious propaganda : Pak Media

Islamabad/New Delhi, Apr 5 (IBNS) The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) from Pakistan, who was in India, probing the Pathankot Airbase terror attack and is due to submit their report to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has reportedly disowned the attack by their nation, terming it a vicious propaganda by India, according to Pakistani media.

Pakistan Today reported that a source close to the JIT said that the attack was staged by India to malign its neighbour.

"A source privy to the details of the report said the JIT report has concluded that the Indian authorities had prior information about the attackers,"  Pakistan Today reported.

"He said that India used the attack as a tool to expand its 'vicious propaganda' against Pakistan 'without having any solid evidence to back the claim'," it said.

The team had visited Pathankot on Mar 27. The team included on  Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officer.

The source also said that the murder of Tanzil Ahmed, the NIA officer, on Saturday midnight testified to the fact.

Ahmed also probed the Pathankot Airbase after the attack.

A member of JIT was quoted by Pakistan Today as saying, "The brutal murder of a Muslim investigator is evidence that Indian establishment wants to keep the matter under wraps."

The source also accused the Indian government of being uncooperative and hindering the investigations.

"The report also raises serious questions over the veracity of Indian claims regarding the Pathankot attack. The JIT has concluded that contrary to the claims of the Indian government about the duration of the encounter, the standoff between the Indian army and alleged terrorists ended within hours of the attack," the source was quoted as saying.

They source said that it was a deliberate attempt by India to get global attention.
