JeM again planning to carry IED attacks in Kashmir: DGP

Srinagar/UNI:  Asserting that Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) was again planning to carry Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks on security forces in Kashmir, J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Tuesday said that forces are fully alert to tackle any eventuality.

The DGP further said that Pakistan is trying to infiltrate more JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants to the valley through Nowshera, Rajouri-Poonch in Jammu and Kupwara-Keran sectors in Kashmir.

However, he said that the border and hinterland grids of security forces are alert and are working in coordination to throttle any such attempt.

“We have reports that JeM militants are again planning to carry IED based incident against the security forces in the valley. But, we are fully alert,” Singh told reporters after the wreath laying ceremony of a CRPF jawan, who was killed in an encounter with militants in south Kashmir on Tuesday, at RTC Humhama.

Two militants were also killed in the encounter.

“Pakistan is trying to send more JeM and LeT militants to Kashmir through Nowshera, Rajouri-Poonch and Kupwara-Keran sectors. However, our border and hinterland grids are alert and are working in coordination,” he added.

Singh said that Pakistani troops are violating ceasefire to help militants, waiting at launch pads near the LoC to infiltrate into this side from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan has been violating ceasefire frequently near Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir and International Border (IB) in Jammu for the last over two months that has left several civilians and soldiers dead.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar had earlier said there are two JeM militants who are expert in IED making. “Wahid Bahi is also an IED expert and is active in Kulgam. Then there is another Pakistani militant, knows as Labmu bhai, who is also an expert of IED making,” he said.

Meanwhile, an IED expert, Foji Bhai, a Pakistani national, was killed in an encounter with security forces on June 3 alongwith two other JeM militants at Kangan area in Pulwama.

Foji Bhai was involved in planting an IED in a vehicle, which was detected and defused by security forces in Pulwama last month.
