Chennai, Apr 10 (IBNS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo, Jayalalithaa promised to shut down bars and embargo liquor sales in the state if she is re-elected.

Campaigning for her party, Jaya said that she plans to cut down on the number of stores and reduce selling hours, in phases.

She also spoke about her plane of opening de-addiction centres.

The state polls are scheduled for May 16.

Jaya, popularly known as Amma, said that though the recent flood was a set back for her government, the big achievement was that no diseases were spread after the water level went down.

Earlier this month, Bihar prohibited the sale of liquor, six months ahead of the promised date.
