Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces eliminate militants during gunfight in Kulgam

Srinagar, Sep 11 (IBNS): Security forces on Monday eliminated two militants during a gunfight while another was apprehended alive in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to reports, forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khudwani area of Kulgam district early on Monday following “specific information” about the presence of some militants there.

During searches, the militants opened fire at the forces which was retaliated by the latter, leading to a gunfight, reports said

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief, wrote on Twitter: “Two militants of Hizb ul Mujahideen outfit were killed in the encounter."

He said two weapons were recovered from their possession.

One militant sympathiser apprehended during the operation along with a pistol and other arms.
