Jammu And Kashmir: Encounter breaks out between militants, security forces in Pulwama

Srinagar/UNI: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Sunday evening.

An Army official told UNI that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K police and CRPF at Parigam in Pulwama on Sunday evening.

However, he said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons. “The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter,” he added.

He said fire fight was going on when the reports last came in.
