Infiltration bid foiled in Kashmir, 5 militants killed

Srinagar, Aug 7 (IBNS): Five militants were killed as a major infiltration bid was foiled by army in Machil sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara on Monday.

According to defence sources, soldiers posted at Machil sector near Line of Control noticed some suspicious movement near the fence today in the afternoon and fired some warning shots.

“Warning shots retaliated by militants ensued fierce gunfight resulting death of  five infiltrators,” defence official said.

Bodies of all five militants have been recovered along with arms and ammunition from the gunfight spot.

Identification of militants and affiliation is yet to be clear and search operation is still on in the area, official said.
