Indore rural declared open defecation free

Indore, Jan 25 (IBNS): Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Monday 'whistled' at an event in Indore to annouce that 312 Gram Panchayats, 610 villages of Indore Rural go open defecation free.
Also present at the event was Sumitra Mahajan, Lok Sabha Speaker and many other dignitaries were present at the event. 
 
The event also had participation of communities who and children who had led this initiative.
 
The Chief Minister, after officially announcing villages and Gram Panchayats of Indore rural open defecation free, announced award of Rupees two lakhs to each gram panchayat which was declared open defecation free and Rupees ten thousand to each children groups which had worked for it. 
 
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh said he wants to see that Madhya Pradesh as first state which will open defecation free in India.
 
Manish Mathur, Officer in Charge, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh shares on this initiative: “It is great to note the that efforts of communities, and zila panchayat are bringing positive change and Indore rural is being declared as open defecation free.  The approach of engaging communities is effective indeed in bringing behavior change. It is now important to sustain this status and use example and learning from Indore rural to expand this momentum to the entire state.”
