Dubai/IBNS: An Indian couple was brutally murdered in a robbery bid by a Pakistani man who broke into their villa on Thursday last, said a media report.

According to a Gulf News report, Hiren Adhiya and Vidhi Adhiya, both in their 40s, were killed in their villa in Arabian Ranches.

Brigadier Jamal Al Jallaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police said the couple was murdered while they were sleeping.

Indian Consul General in Dubai has identified the Indian couple.

The accused broke into their house and took a wallet containing Dh 2,000 (Rs 41,229) and walked into the bedroom looking for more valuables.

However, the couple woke up, and the intruder stabbed both of them until they died.

The accused stabbed their 18-year-old daughter in the neck when she woke up and saw her parents lying in a pool of blood.

Brigadier Jamal Al Jallaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police, said the couple's daughter informed the Dubai Police command room.

"Patrols and forensic experts went to the two-floors villa. The father who worked as an executive manager at a company and his wife were killed. They are survived by their two daughters aged 18 and 13," the newspaper quoted Brig Al Jallaf said.

The man managed to escape but was arrested by the Dubai Police in less than 24 hours.

The report said that he had come from another emirate to rob the couple's house where he had come for maintenance work a year ago.

Colonel Adil Al Joker, the assistant of the director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police, said the accused has admitted to the crime and that he had planned to break into the villa.

The accused had been lured by a large amount of money lying on a table he saw while working in their house.

Consul General Vipul told Gulf News, "The incident is very unfortunate and the consulate is in touch with friends of the couple."

The man had also stolen some jewellery from the villa which has been recovered.

The Consul General said the couple ran a business in UAE with an office in Sharjah.
