Indian consulate targeted in Afghanistan

Kabul, Jan 4 (IBNS) Unidentified gunmen tried to storm the building of Indian consulate in Afghanistan city of Mazar-i-Sharif on Sunday, media reports said.

According to reports, Afghan security personnel have killed at least two of the four attackers.

Deputy police chief Col. Abdul Razaq Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News that first there was an explosion and gunfire could be heard for 10 minutes near the Indian consulate.

Muneer Farhad, the provincial governor’s spokesman, was quoted as saying by Pajhwok Afghan News  that attackers were firing at the consulate from a nearby building.
