India sailors rescued: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS): Indian government on Sunday said 11 Indian sailors, whose merchant ship ‘Maximus’ was hijacked by pirates, have been rescued.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj earlier tweeted: "Merchant ship ‘Maximus’ with 11 Indian sailors was hijacked by pirates.On our request the ship was followed by Ghana and Nigerian Navy."

"We were able to rescue 10 Indian sailors with the help of Nigerian Navy. However, the Captain was taken away by the pirates," she said.

Swaraj said in her last tweet that  the Captain Rohan Ruparelia has also been rescued.

"I am happy to inform the rescue of the 11th sailor Capt Rohan Ruparelia. SisteronDuty," she said.
