Hijacked Maximus ship: 10 Indians rescued

New Delhi, Feb 21 (IBNS): Ten Indian crew members, who were traveling in hijacked ship 'Maximus', have been rescued, Indian officials said on Saturday.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday said ship 'Maximus' with 11 Indian crew members was hijacked by pirates off the Ivory Coast last Saturday.

"A ship 'Maximus' with 11 Indian crew members was hijacked by pirates off the Ivory Coast last Saturday. On our request the ship was followed by Ghana and Nigerian Navy," Swaraj tweeted.

Swaraj said attempts are being made to rescue 11th Indian and a Pakistani crew member.

"We have rescued 10 Indians with the help of Nigerian Navy. We are trying to rescue 11th Indian and a Pakistani crew member from the pirates," Swaraj tweeted.
