Gauhati HC stays all decisions of Arunachal Pradesh governor

Guwahati, Dec 17 (IBNS): The Gauhati High Court on Thursday stayed all decisions taken by the Arunachal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa including the dismissal of Speaker Nabam Rebia at a special session of state assembly.
Justice Hrishikesh Roy had issued the stay order till February 1, 2016.
 
Arunachal Pradesh Governor had issued a notification on Dec 9 and called a special session after appealed by 21 dissident Congress MLA’s against Nabam Tuki government.
 
The court observed that the notification issued by the governor was in contravention of Constitutional procedure for convening of a session.
 
Speaker Rebia had challenged against the governor notification and appealed to the high court.
 
Earlier 21 rebel congress MLA’s joined hands with 11 BJP MLA’s and two independent MLA’s had adopted a motion of ‘no confidence’ against the Nabam Tuki government during a meeting held at conference hall of a hotel.
 
Deputy speaker of Arunachal Preadesh assembly T Norbu Thongdok had chaired the meeting where 33 legislators of 60 member assembly were present and announced Kalikho Pul as the new leader.
 
On other hand, several organizations, supporters of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had blocked high ways and protested against the governor notification.
