From drinking partners to murder: Lucknow man electrocutes friend to steal Rs 2,250 from his pocket
A man allegedly electrocuted his drinking partner to death and stole Rs 2,250 from his pocket in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The accused, identified as Birju, had been drinking alcohol with his friend Sachin, who reportedly lost consciousness after consuming a large amount of liquor.
Taking advantage of the situation, Birju allegedly electrocuted Sachin and stole the money from his pocket after he died.
He then reportedly dumped Sachin's body outside the house of an unidentified person in an attempt to make the death appear accidental.
According to police, Sachin had asked Birju for money on September 28. After Birju refused, Sachin mortgaged his motorcycle to arrange money.
The two subsequently used the money to buy alcohol and consumed it in Birju's room.
Police said Birju told investigators that Sachin still had some money left with him.
According to the accused's statement, he allegedly planned the murder to steal the remaining cash, NDTV reported.
Birju was arrested on October 2 after police began investigating the case following the examination of CCTV footage.
Police later recovered an electrical wire, a cooler and Rs 2,250 from the accused, officials said.
The investigation is underway.
