ED files case against ex-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh

Mumbai/UNI: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson and Minorities Minister Nawab Malik on Tuesday said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for political motives and conspiracy to defame him.

Malik in his reaction stated that Deshmukh has been accused of corruption by former Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh.

The court had directed a CBI inquiry into the matter. The ED has now registered a case after the CBI filed the case.

Malik said that all this was a conspiracy to discredit Deshmukh.

It is clear that the BJP government at the Center is doing politics by using all the central agencies and the ED has filed a case in the same manner, said Malik.

The case has been filed for political motives and to discredit the alliance government and the party.

However, Deshmukh would co-operate in the investigation into any legal issues, added Malik.
