Digvijaya Singh shares abusive meme on Twitter against PM Modi

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IBNS): Triggering a controversy, veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh shared a meme on his Twitter handle on Friday, which contained derogatory words criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, media reports said.

Criticising the PM, the meme stated: "mere do achievements (My two achievements) 1. Bhakto ko c****** banana 2. C******* ko Bhakta banana."

However, in an attempt to shirk off the responsibility of the tweet, Singh captioned the meme: "Not mine but couldn't help posting it. My apologies to the person concerned. He is the best in the "Art of Fooling!"."

He also tweeted, "I have and shall continue to speak against those who are taking the whole Country for a ride by fooling the People with wrong facts."

Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha member of the Congress, is known to hit the headlines with his derogatory remarks, media reports said.

A few years ago, he had referred to his own party colleague Meenakshi Natarajan as "sau tunch maal" which loosely translates to "sexy".

Later he clarified to say that he actually meant "pure gold" by the term.
