Delhi Police arrest suspected Al Qaeda militant

New Delhi, Dec 16 (IBNS): The Delhi Police on Wednesday said it has arrested a suspected Al Qaeda militant.

He has been identified as 41-year-old Mohd. Asif.

He is a native of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh.

The accused has been remanded to 14 days police custody for further investigation.

He was arrested during a joint operation of the Delhi Police, the Central Intelligence Agencies and the UP Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).

"The arrest of Mohd. Asif is a major achievement of security agencies working tirelessly to safeguard the nation against dreaded international terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda," the Delhi Police said in a statement.

According to reports, another suspected Al Qaeda militant has been arrested from Cuttack city in Odisha,. He has been identified as Abdul Rehman.
