Bahraich, Feb 24 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday hit out at the Congress and its vice-president over the issue of raising 'anti-national' slogans in New Delhi's JNU campus and said the opposition party was stooping low for their votebank politics.

Shah alleged that the Congress was supporting anti -national activities in the name of freedom of speech.

" Congress party and Rahul Gandhi are stooping low for their votebank politics and supporting anti national activities in the name of freedom of speech," Shah said.

He asked Rahul Gandhi to clarify his stand whether he supported anti-national slogans.

" I want to ask Congress party and its Vice President Rahul Gandhi if anti national slogans are acceptable them in the name of free speech and freedom of expression," he said.

Shah said: "If Rahul Gandhi doesn’t support these slogans, he should have the courage to condemn them."

He said the BJP condemned anti-national slogans in strongest possible manner.

Speaking on the Assembly polls in UP, Shah said: "  Elections in UP are sometime away but it is the people of the state who will decide the next government."

Attacking the Samajwadi Party, he said the Akhilesh Yadav-led government has ruined the state.

"Uttar Pradesh has been left far behind in the race of development due to the caste based politics of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party," he said.

"Both BSP and SP have destroyed the state of UP. While the state lags behind, castes aligned to these two parties benefit," Shah said as he visited Uttar Pradesh on Wedneday.

He said the BJP will    ensure development in every nook and corner of UP if it is voted to power.
